The pinnacle of the Sermon on the Mount is the Lord’s prayer. Christ wants his disciples to know that the center of a righteous, kingdom-focused life is relationship with God himself. Prayer isn’t a ritual. Prayer is pouring out our hearts to God from a place of trust.
“This, then, is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’” Matthew 6:9-13
