In the depths of an Egyptian prison, Pharaoh’s chief cupbearer and chief baker meet a lowly Hebrew who survives by resting in the promises of God. Joseph’s compassion leads them to share the dreams that they have had, one which will lead to life and the other to death. We can recognize the threads of the gospel and the gift of God’s grace through this story knowing that we are just as undeserving of our own restoration.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9
