Immediately after the events of the flood, we read an account of Noah and his sons that will dictate history for generations to come and is even still having its impact today. But even through the sins of Noahs’ drunkenness and Hams’ reveling in his fathers’ shame, and then through the cursing of Canaan and the blessing of Shem and Japheth, we can see God’s faithfulness and his plan for his people unfold.
“He also said, ‘Blessed be the Lord, the God of Shem; and let Canaan be his servant. May God enlarge Japheth, and let him dwell in the tents of Shem, and let Canaan be his servant.’” Genesis 9:26-27
