After Jacob tricks his father into giving him the blessing and inheritance, he flees from his home in search of his sister’s brother in order to find a wife. Over the next 20 years, we see the Lord discipling Jacob as him and Laban interact with one another. Jacob even gets manipulated in similar ways to the ways that he has manipulated others. But in the end, Jacob begins to see God’s hand in it all and starts to acknowledge the God of his fathers, Abraham and Isaac.
“So Jacob sent and called Rachel and Leah into the field where his flock was and said to them, ‘I see that your father does not regard me with favor as he did before. But the God of my father has been with me.'” Genesis 31:4-5
