In the epilogue for the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus makes it very clear that his words are not just one good set of instructions in the midst of so many others, but that Jesus’ words are the only way to find actual lasting life. There are only two ways: the way to life, and the way to destruction.
“Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.” Matthew 7:13-14
