Starting in chapter twelve, Genesis narrows its narrative down to the story of a single man and God's calling on that man, Abraham. From the life of Abraham, we can see how disobedience and a lack of trust in God's plan can have lasting effects for generations to come, but we can also see how God is faithful to his promises even when we don't always follow in trust and obedience. God will make sure that his good plans will come to pass and he shows himself to be our ultimate prize and treasure. "After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision: 'Fear not, Abram, I am your shield; your reward shall be very great.'” Genesis 15:1
